Description
This image has been adapted and translated from a French Image d’Épinal print, popular in the early 19th century, where each step represents a different decade in life. Beginning in infancy through to ‘adolescence’ at 10 years and ‘maturity’ at 40 years, all the way to ‘idiocy’ at 100. The couple on the top step are 50 years old – presumably that is the pinnacle of life!
Printed on acid free paper.
